Independence
The day I popped out of my mom’s womb, she must have been pushing to Destiny’s Child Independent woman. I feel as if that song was spoken into my life. I will and forever will be independent woman. I have fended for myself, so to speak, ever since I started to receive an allowance. And then even more so after I was granted my first job. You see, I never liked the feeling of depending on people… Whether it was depending on someone to take me to school or even someone to buy Shelia (My stomach) food, I always wanted to do things my way! MY WAY OR THE HIGH WAY! I feel as though it may be good to depend on others because that is how trust is implemented, but I can’t suppress the independence in me. Being sovereign is not a bad thing at all in my eyes. It shows ambition and self proclamation. I can apply being independent to anything in my life even my hair. I am independent from the thoughts that bound me to societal holds. I need no one to hold my hand when I do my hair, because I know exactly how I want my hair and in which ways I want it styled. I am independent from the wiles of the world. I need not the world to be happy but Jesus. I am independent from the grip of men. Yes their coy sexual ways! It can be so easy to fall for a guy and want to be his all. Although I was pulled from him, he doesn’t need to be my supplement but compliment me. You can Do Bad all by yourself! {I just had to rant or maybe rave about me…so there you have it lol. Yall Feel the same way? Comment Bellow.}

Ms.Leela James is a new type of sound to my ear. Why? Even though she dropped a well known accredited album in 2005 and took home an award back in ’08 at the Soul Train awards, I never really gave Ms. James a chance. Some may call it bias, but now that I am more in tune with my “roots” so to speak, I have taken on the role of an optimist. This is including the music aspect of media. If there is a natural haired women out there in the music industry I tend to draw near to that specific person. Sorry, I wasn’t going to sugar coat it, but that is just one more thing that I and the artist have in common. It’s a cold bias world out there, and although being bias is not too good for the soul, it is real… how many of yall can relate? What stroke my eye? Honestly it was her hair. No, this post will not be about her hair, but it is beautiful! 😉 I am simply doing what she is doing…which is trying to bring back the artistry in music! Her voice is simply amazing and she is using her talent for the better!

Well tonight while I was browsing through some channels on TV I glimpsed a peak at her Natural Hair while she was debating… Yup that’s right i was watching the Great Debators. Ms. Jurnee Smollett is one little lady who takes advantage of her curly hair and isnt afraid to experiment and flaunt the versatility of her hair.

Cold War; Cold Water
The talented and lovely Janelle (naturally beautiful) Monae has released her Cold War video! Check the video out, and her retro chic hairstyle if you pay attention enough to catch it… Her voice is so heavenly and this video is worth watching on replay. You can feel her emotion and sincerity within her words and just her facial expressions in itself. I Absolutely love how she looks natural face wise and its hard to detect and blush(to add color). It is just sheer genius, not to mention her makeup looks flawless. lol And because her video is entitled Cold War… I wanted to share a little tip about COLD WATER When you are washing or Co-washing your hair, it is great to use warm water but let your least final rinse out consists of Cold water. Why? Cold Water acts as a sealant and maintains the moisture in your hair strands. It also help to reduce frizziness throughout the day. Don’t Believe me? Try it for yourself =) Cia.E
