I mean its Tristan wilds.. that’s all I can say. Thanks to my Best friend, he pointed out that Mr. Wilds did a shoot for Vibes and thought I must see it. Now the picture in its essence is art..the article… I don’t know… never read it so I may have to pick it up. Other than that.. I would give you background on this young motivated individual but I want you to judge this cover because a picture is worth a thousand words! Source Oh and Yes this is the gentlemen who put a smile on my face a year ago when he wished me a happy bday!! I am not obsessed though I swear.. just in awe on his goals… yes I pay attention to those things… lol

entertainment, my story

My style Icon: Solange

Style Icon may not be the correct term to describe my healthy infatuation with Solange but it comes close to justice when I say her persona puts a smile on my face. I love that she has that freedom of expression swag.. like “imma rock my hair and where these boots with a big jumbo jacket if I want to” type of swag.Just yesterday I was speaking to one of my fellow dance group members and I was raving on how much I love Solange’s jumbo braids(which by the way I tried to imitate and did a pretty darn good job! Pics soon) and my dance member referred to her a Beyonce’s “strange sister’. I was quite appalled… Ok not so much but I still realized that I was really growing attached to this lovely lady that I had no personal contact with ever in my life.Any who… this is just a forewarning to the few of you who actually read my nonsense. If you begin to see tons of photos or blog posts about her life, its not because I’m crazy, I promise lolSo… I don’t know if you guys heard the news but it was recently Solange’s birthday and B (Beyonce) purchased not one but TWENTYFIVE pairs of shoes for her 25th birthday. If that’s not love I don’t know what is!  pic source I wonder what Solange’s thoughts and expression was after opening the 6th box… “oh great.. another pair of shoes…just what I wanted” lol P.S- Icon not idol… unless their synonymous then disregard this P.S lol

Jill Scott On Ebony

I will forever love my girl Jill Scott but when it comes to this cover… I personally don’t think it does her much justice… Don’t get me wrong, the cover is beautiful and the colors match Ms. Scott so well but I feel as if its almost too perfect and photoshop has won again…. I’m not sure where Ebony was going with this but it is just my opinion. How do you guys feel about the cover?

#naturalhair Debate: If you ain’t natural you don’t love yourself

Thanks to my lovely friend Taylor who is in Greece living the life right nnow woot woot, I was able to read an article on a natural haired womens opinnion about relzaxed folks. Me personally… I think this is so overratted but apparently some beg to differ. Here is the article from madamenorie: Just recently, I had a rather interesting conversation with another natural haired woman. And according to her “if your hair ain’t natural, you’re full of self-hate.” Mind you, this woman was also wearing colored contact lenses andd acrylic nails. I’m a natural haired woman, and I have a problem with her statement- mostly because it’s rather judgmental and a flawed attempt to psychologically breakdown every relaxed haired black woman. For many little black girls, getting our first relaxer is an indoctrination. It’s just like going to church: You may not know why you’re doing it- you just do it because Mommy said so. At least that’s how it was for me. I got my first relaxer in kindergarten. And the whole experience was never really something I thought about until I hit my teenage years. I certainly didn’t hate myself- at least not more than the next insecure teenage girl. But I’ll tell you what I did hate- doing my hair. It was a constant conundrum because I wanted to look good (as most budding young women do) but sweat, water, wind (actually all the elements) were my biggest adversaries. And for someone who loves working out, going to the beach, fishing, and generally anything that involves water and warm weather, relaxed hair started to work my last nerve. To read more click here
