I’m Free!!! #naturalhair rehab

*singing* I’m free….praise the Lord Im free…No longer bound…no more chains holding me!!! Source Lol, Yes guys its the 25th of March meaning that I am officially out of rehab!! No relapses or regrets here! ‘Life ain’t been no crystal stair’ these past three months. They have surely have had tacks in it but I sure did step over them. I have to admit that when I first started exactly three months ago, that being December 25… there was no way I thought that I could make it to the end. None whatsoever! If anyone knows me…I’m a spender. Not a material girl but a spender! If I see an item I like I feel as if I should buy it, if it is at a reasonable price of course! I never in a million years thought that I could go three months without purchasing hair products and guess what guys… I did! Now some of you may know that I purchased the tangle teezer…but its not against the rules to buy hair tools so ha! 😛 lol Anyway, i have to say the most trying thing that got me these past three months is Self Doubt. It is a cruel cruel thing. Your biggest opponent is yourself in most situations and once you have conquered yourself, trust and believe me, you can conquer anything that comes your way! Source I felt like this whole challenge helped me see how much of problem I had and how I could actually maintain myself. Now if I am being totally honest, I would say where I lacked in hair products I made up for it with purchasing Jewelry and makeup…But I’m a natural spender that I stated earlier and to solve my spending problem, it will require a step by step process. This is why I am quite pleased that I passed my product junky rehab challenge and I can now create another challenge for myself. The biggest rewarded besides saving money in this challenge would have to be building up tolerance and self control! Now that I have self control I don’t always have to see a hair product and go “Hey, maybe I should try that out!” Source I encourage you all, if you haven’t already, to try to find something that is weighing you down in life and make a challenge for yourself to stop. It is not going to be easy but in the end it will be rewarding! Trust me!

Product Junky Rehab update

Remember my inventory from the product junky rehab? The list is still intact. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? To answer that Its a great thing! Yea, it would have been cool if i used up some of the products i have to cross them off my list but at the same time i haven’t purchased any hair products since december and i have 4 more days until rehab is over! I am so proud of myself because it shows that junkyism can be calmed. I am happy to say that my juices and berries is half way done woohoo!! So does this mean that I am not going to buy anymore products until my list is done? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I love trying products, thats what I do, but i wont be purchasing products unless I really want to try it. Pray for these next 4 days because temptaion is a female dog/devil!

Product Junky Rehab update

From the previous list of my inventory…. I am slowly creating a list of staples. I never really considered any of my products staples because of the excess products I hold. Now that I am in Rehab, I am slowly but surely learning discipline! I have tract the products I used daily and this is what I have: Koils By Nature Shealoe conditioner Suave Naturals Conditioner Karens Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Oyin Handmade Jucies and Berries Castor Oil Now One of the rules for the Rehab is that we can purchase a staple product if we are running out. My conditioner is half full and in my mind that means “running out”. Well…. I went to Walmart yesterday and while stocking up on school supplies I happened to walk to the beauty section and spotted a 35oz bottle of Suave Natural Conditioner for 1.98! Can you say “steal!” ??? I confronted the girls at CN about the situations and I guess its okay. I feel bad but fine at the same time. I didn’t break the rule BUT I could have waited till I finished the bottle. At the same time while im in school I will not have an opportunity to purchase my conditioner if I do run out at that price. What do you guys think?

Product Junky Rehab

Here I am, another challenge… and surprisingly my castor oil challenge is holding up great!!But this right here. this right here…. this challenge is needed! My rehab needs a strict lockdown. I am participating in it from the curly nikki forums. So here are the rules. Plain and simple. 1. Take inventory of what you have. This will help you when you feel weak. You will know what you have hopefully deterring you from purchasing more. 2. Stop buying products!! The ONLY exception – if you are completely out (running low) of a product, you can buy a couple of jars to get you through a couple of months, i.e. You are completely out (running low) of gel or a leave-in, buy a couple of jars or enough to get that free shipping  . And I know I have to get more detailed because PJ’s need more detailed restriction -> You can’t buy more gel if you are almost out of Qhemet’s honeybush tea gel and still have some of Hairveda’s whipped gelly collecting dust. 3. You are allowed to swap products. Heck, if you win any, that’s great too. But don’t come out of pocket. 4. Since most of us have our Black Friday orders we should be good on products for a while anyway. Let’s do this from 12/25/10 to 3/25/11. 5. Update as much as you like. Share your tips on how you overcame your struggles. I will be posting my progress here as well! Pray for me guys *bows head*

Castor Oil Challenge

Hey Loves! Guess who is doing a hair challenge? I figured I would try to take on a challenge that would help me enforce a hair regimen. I joined with a bunch of people from the Curly Nikki Forum. Here are the instructions that I must follow: 1-apply castor oil to scalp at least twice a week, more often depending onhow quickly it is absorbed. You can start this on a day when you wash your hair as the scalp will be clean.1a-use extra virgin castor oil or just ensure that the oil has no preservatives or salt.2-do not rinse the castor oil out until your next wash day, giving the oil more time to penetrate the scalp.3-do not use any other growth aides on your scalp. Now this last one does not say anything about putting stuff on the actual hair just nothing else on the scalp. You can continue to moisturize the length of your hair as you normally do. I am going to post pictures each week of my progress. I am not really expecting any significant growth or anything but i thought it may  be fun considering how i am trying to get to know Toni even better. I figure that this will help me to understand what rate She grows and if Castor Oil really does agree with my hair. I don’t see why it wouldn’t though. A little information on Castor Oil: Castor oil contains Omega-9 fatty acids which help moisturize the hair and the scalp preventing both from becoming dry. Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean It can be used as a cooking agent and for skin needs It is used to strengthen and thinking hair. It can also promote hair growth This Oil can be made into a soap   I will be doing this for a month (I started on December 18th). If you would like to join please comment. The more the merrier!
