Toni got trimmed… #naturalhair

Right before my protectie style I thought it would be a perfect time to trim my hair. I knew it deserved a trim because my twist were frizzy at the ends and were very brittle. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to treat my hair for a long time while my hair was protected so pre treating it would be the most healthy choice. I made a video of my first ever trim and here it is.   I must say, I loved the feel of my hair after the trim. It felt so much more healthier and soft.

#naturalhair Castor oil challenge updates

I measured my hair guys! I should have done this about a month ago but hey whatever. As of right now after my trim, my hair is:Front: 4inBack: 4inCrown: 3 1/4 inchesSides: 3 1/4inchesSo my hair doesn’t grow evenly which I knew, but now i can accurately see how much the Castor oil is working.Even if its not working, it sure is helping me keep up with greasing my dry scalp so thats a plus!

TWA Rod trial two!!!! #naturalhair

“If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again”. I used more rods all different sizes this time and when i ran out i used my regular rollers. This time I used Oyins handmade whipped pudding and brought it back to the old school with my relaxed product frizz buster.           For a better look check out the video

My roller set turned fake Blowout #naturalhair

So I decided to deep condition my hair, and in my hindsight I saw rollers….so what did i do?? I decided to experiment. Yes i was supposed to wear a protective style but I thought it was time to play in my hair… I have always sucked at roller setting my hair, even back in my relaxed days, but I mean there is no harm in trying till you succeed right? Well I tried… and these were the results: I used Koils by Nature Herbal Eucalyptus gel and my sheaabutter aloevera gel mix. My hair was soft but my ends were disturbingly dry lol Nonetheless I wouldn’t call it a fail because I knew it wouldn’t turn out great since I started rolling it. I eventually brushed it out with a paddle and denman brush to achieve my fake blow out with absolutely no heat. For a more in depth review check out my video here.

Toni meet Sasha 1.0 & Protective styles #naturalhair

My first protective style for the Winter! Its all about the half wigs for right now guys =) What is a Protective Style? It is a style that people wear to protect their hair ends. Often times people  use these style to retain growth and length and to protect the hair from harsh weather.   What can be a protective style? A protective style can be Braids, twists, extensions, buns, wigs, lacefronts, half wigs, weaves etc. It is basically anything that will hide your ends or not have your ends out in the open. Are they Necessary? Because PS are used for protecting and hair retention I would like to say yes IF you live in colder climates. But if I were to say that it wouldn’t be entirely true because there are some people who rock their hair out all year round and don’t have a problem. But my motto is ‘better be safe than sorry’ =) So Toni(my hair), here is half wig Sasha 1.0

November-December protective style

Toni and I had an agreement during November and December to remain protected until last week. I decided to try something other than braids and opted for Afro Puffy Twist. A friend of mine at school told me about it and of course before I dived in, i did my research. Afro Puffy Twist are special nappy like hair that creates these gorgeous natural-like twist. I use 1 pack and a quester but never needed that much. It was my first time doing them and I thought it would be just like the yarn braids BUT the technique to secure the twist are oh so different. The video is a brief review of how it went. WARNING: The video quality sucks and the lighting is poor as well but i still wanted you guys to get a taste of it. I don’t think this protective style was supposed to last a month, it is more of a two week hair do. TLemme Know what you think. I may be doing these again but not for a very long time. It is not that managable and it made my hair ITCH like crazy. P.S: If you get this style, DO NOT wash them I repeat DO NOT wash, it will get hard to manage.

Castor Oil Challenge

Hey Loves! Guess who is doing a hair challenge? I figured I would try to take on a challenge that would help me enforce a hair regimen. I joined with a bunch of people from the Curly Nikki Forum. Here are the instructions that I must follow: 1-apply castor oil to scalp at least twice a week, more often depending onhow quickly it is absorbed. You can start this on a day when you wash your hair as the scalp will be clean.1a-use extra virgin castor oil or just ensure that the oil has no preservatives or salt.2-do not rinse the castor oil out until your next wash day, giving the oil more time to penetrate the scalp.3-do not use any other growth aides on your scalp. Now this last one does not say anything about putting stuff on the actual hair just nothing else on the scalp. You can continue to moisturize the length of your hair as you normally do. I am going to post pictures each week of my progress. I am not really expecting any significant growth or anything but i thought it may  be fun considering how i am trying to get to know Toni even better. I figure that this will help me to understand what rate She grows and if Castor Oil really does agree with my hair. I don’t see why it wouldn’t though. A little information on Castor Oil: Castor oil contains Omega-9 fatty acids which help moisturize the hair and the scalp preventing both from becoming dry. Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean It can be used as a cooking agent and for skin needs It is used to strengthen and thinking hair. It can also promote hair growth This Oil can be made into a soap   I will be doing this for a month (I started on December 18th). If you would like to join please comment. The more the merrier!
