How to make a Lace Frontal from start to finish: Nearly Perfect Hair

Who says you can’t teach an old track new tricks? About a year ago I purchased hair from my store that I wore as a weave a couple times. I will be the first to say that I did not take care of the hair like I should have because I am just a lazy person. Suffice to say, my hoarding ways did not let me part from the tracks nor the frontal. So what does anyone do when they need a new hairstyle fast with no money? They make a wig. Yes issa wig! Several people have asked me in the past to show how I make my wigs, so what better way to show the world than to make a video? Think’s you’ll need: Any patterned bundles of tracked hair. 3 Bundles of Malaysian hair found hereLace frontalCurved NeedleThreadBandWig capWhite eyeliner/chalk Do you have any bundles of hair laying around that you’re ready to transform to a wig?

Though it is easy to forget, you have to make sure that you still pay attention to your hair, as it may need even more care when it is in a protective style. Guest Post: Best Oils for Natural Hair

The Best Natural Oils For Your Hair Type (All photo credits: commons.wikimedia.org) Guest post by: Aubrey Ginsberg with http://www.girlswithnaturalhair.com Natural oils are cherished for their health and wellness benefits. You will find natural oils in many beauty products as well. A multitude of hair care products boasting natural and essential oils, line the shelves at every supermarket, department store, and salon. So how can you know which products will be a perfect match with your hair? There are so many types of hair combinations and it’s important to find the right oils to achieve your desired results. Natural oils generally work for dry and frizzy hair. Thinning hair, fine hair, or flat thin hair can be improved with certain natural oils as well. Is your hair very curly? Are you of African descent? Then you know the importance of oils. If you use chemicals such as relaxers, permanents, or hair dyes, you will want to frequently use oils to replenish the lost moisture from chemical treatments. Argan Oil: Best Natural Oil For Dry, Damaged, Unmanageable Hair You may see all the products that boast Argan Oil infusion for every hair problem imaginable. So what is the hidden secret? Well, normally the fatty acids in every oil will replenish moisture but this oil also has omega 3s and Vitamin E. These substances infuse the hair with moisture and strength. You do not need much of this at all, just a small amount or simply just coat your comb or pick with a light coating of Argan oil, and work through wet detangled hair after shampooing. Pay close attention to the ends of hairs. They are generally drier than areas closer to the scalp. You can find Argan Oil here Coconut Oil: Best Natural Oil For Dry Scalp And Hair Coconut Oil is good for both hair and skin. It’s perfect if you like that tropical coconut scent. Your hair will smell luxurious, and look just as fine! First, it exfoliates with natural lauric acid then remove unwanted flakes. It strengthens both the root of the hair and the entire shaft with a strong dose of Vitamin E, and several other beneficial nutrients. Over time, this strengthening of the root can make your hair appear fuller and more voluminous. Should your hair be damaged from heat styling and chemicals, you can be confident that coconut oil improves the texture and moisture in your hair. It helps to tame flyaway and split ends, reducing the appearance of frizz. For extra smooth hair and a flake free scalp, make coconut oil a part of your daily hair care routine.Check out some coconut oil here Grape Seed Oil: Best Value Natural Oil For Volume, And Styling Grape seed oil adds the same value to our hair and skin as coconut oil. We like grapeseed oil, because it gives many of the same benefits of coconut oil without the higher price, and without the coconut scent. Believe it or not, some people don’t want to smell like coconuts! Grape seed oil is made for those ones. Grape Seed oil hydrates the skin, and the scalp reducing flakiness, and fighting dandruff. The moisturization benefit to the scalp actually promotes the growth of new hair. If your hair is often unruly, frizzy, dry, or damaged, grape seed oil may be just the perfect solution. In addition to the moisturizing and strengthening benefits, grapeseed oil just may be your new favorite styling product. As grapeseed oil is a lightweight oil, you can use it to create all sorts of styles without the undesired greasiness and weight of other heavier oils. This can help to give volume to thick heavy hair, or a  give a visual boost to flat falling hair.Have you bought your rapeseed oil yet? Check some out here Avocado Oil: Best Oil For Nourishing Damaged Frizzy Hair You might know that avocados are known as a superfood for their dietary nutritional benefits. They are absolutely packed with essential nutrients and healthy fatty acids. The avocado oil is full of the Vitamins E, D, B6, and A that your hair needs for strength. Plus it has potassium, amino acids, and lecithin for an extra dose of strengthening benefits. Oil extracted from avocados is packed full both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. This type of lipid generally remains in hair for longer time, so you can enjoy the smoothing and shining benefits of avocado oils throughout the day into the evening. If you have frizzy hair that doesn’t respond well to humidity, you will want to make sure to use avocado oil or avocado infused products as part of your daily styling routine. This is the best oil for smoothing flyaway and breakage. Find some avocado oil here Rosemary Essential Oil: Best Natural Oil For Thinning and Aging Hair Rosemary is a power herb used in cooking, aromatherapy, holistic healing practices, and many hair care products for thinning hair. You will most likely wish to dilute a small amount of rosemary oil in another scent free oil, such as extra virgin olive oil. The scent of rosemary is so strong that it is not recommended to use pure rosemary oil. This oil cleans very well, removing much of the small particles of dirt that can be trapped in thinning hair. Nature seems to have provided all things you need, even for your hair. If you are concerned about how to care best for your hair, try these products from mother nature. Fake Acrylic Nails No Acrylic

*This post includes affiliate links meaning I may receive a commission if a sale is madeI think you will agree with me when I say:It’s hard to maintain great looking nails on a BUDGET!      The Pretty Woman NYC sets only last but so long! I did love the longevity and experience as I mentioned in this post here .I have had various people question me about my nails. They range from who does my them to how much does that cost?! I always find great pleasure when I can smile and say I did it myself! Yes they are my fake nails without acrylic.   Now I think it’s time to share how I get my nails to look so professionally done for ¾ of the price! Thanks to Alexandra on Youtube (When I find her YouTube name I will insert it here), I have learned how to have fake acrylic nails without acrylic!   What you’ll need:   Corn Starch Clear Nail tips  Nail Glue Clear Nail Polish Base/top coat Gel Nail Polish Any Nail polish of your choice.Gel LED Lamp   Fake Nails Without Acrylic First to ensure that my false nails will adhere to my nail base I file my nail beds and smooth them! You want to make sure that all nail polish is removed and your cuticles are pushed back. Your cuticles are pushed back to get a sleeker look.   Once I finish the first step a proceed to match the false nail tips with my finger nails. If you’re like me and every nail seems too large, you can always file the nail sides to make sure they fit your nails perfectly. After you have all the nails set out for application add nail glue to both the nail and your actual finger nail. Some people may think this is overkill but I apply to both for maximum hold.   You then want to file and shape the nail to the desired look.     Now it is time to get rid of the line of demarcation. In order to get rid of the line, you’re are going to use a corn starch and base/top coat gel nail polish mixture. You want to mix a teaspoon of cornstarch and 8 drops of clear nail polish together. Do not use the gel nail polish for this mixture because we will be using that later in the instructions.   After you have mixed together the cornstarch and the polish, it is time to spread the mixture across the point where the fake nail meets your real nail. I do this so that when I am applying nail polish there isn’t any ridges between my actual nail and nail tip. This mixture dries fairly quick. So after 5 minutes or so, I then go ahead and file down my nail bed to get rid of the excess cornstarch until my nail is smooth. *It does remain white but the residue goes away after a while.     After you have reached desired smoothness it’s time to apply clear gel polish. This step is absolutely optional but I have achieved great results with this method! I cure my clear gel nail polish with my UV machine. Now if you don’t have the UV light you can always go in with clear polish and paint your nails as usually but I have not tried it without the gel polish. I believe the gel polish aids in the longevity of my nails. Once I have cured the gel polish I then go in and design my nails per usual.   Finally, after I have finished designing and allowed the regular nail polish to dry, I go back in with my clear nail polish making sure to cap the tips of the nails (Spreading nail polish on the top edge of the nail) and clean my nails with the gel cleaner.   Pretty simple! The longest portion of this application is filing the fake nails so that my fake nails matches with my regular nail size.   These nails have the potential to last 2 weeks and that say a lot! Of course the stronger the glue the longer the nail will stay intact as well. Remember, the key to beautiful looking nails is to keep your own nails healthy. Sure, nailpolish and fake tips give a luxurious appearance, however nail care is important. Our friends over at Positive Health Wellness have great tips on keeping your real nails strong and healthy. Check out their article here.   What do you guys think of this method!? Are you going to try?

How I cut my bangs

From time to time I sift through my wig collection trying to see which piece I feel like exposing to the world. Often times my rotation stays the same because my wigs look so dead. This past time, I was lucky enough to find one of the first wigs I made some years back. I never liked how the silk top lace laid so I decided to chop it up some. To my surprise my idea to chop it up gave the wig new life hunny! Check out my video below to see how I created bangs in this wig! Natural Hair Wash and Go: Demystified Walk Through and Demo

The bane of every naturalista’s journey at some point in life is perfecting the Wash-n-go! We see all these beautiful pictures and lust after those perfectly formed curls but somehow when it’s our turn to have our curls pop, we end up with fields of cotton balls or even sometimes dry bushy gardens on top of our heads. In my opinion sometimes wash and go’s are not for everyone. For one, the name is so misleading! I remember my first years back on the re-unification journey with my natural hair I was excited to try the most talked about wash and goes until I sat down to actually try to perform the deed.  Not to much surprise I failed completely, with gel in one hand and a frown on my face. I felt defeated because I watched tons of videos and could not understand why my hair would not coil up to stay in perfect shape. I swore never to try again because I was scarred for life. Maybe not for life, but I was disappointed and figured that my hair just didn’t have the capabilities of lustrous curls as everyone else’s did; However, I was so wrong. A couple months ago I started to notice the curls my hair did possess when I would deep condition. I never noticed my curls before because washing my hair and deep conditioning was a dauntless thoughtless process where I wouldn’t ever dare to stare at my hair for hours in a mirror memorized by the moisture and texture I truly possessed. I had been fed up with the lifelessness for years so I never admired my hair for long in a mirror. But when I finally took the time out to take interest in my hair that day I noticed that my curls were alive and well, and the only thing missing all these years was true moisture! This of course served as exciting news to my internal pretentious hair diva. This became the catalyst to my weekly deep conditioning regimen. I even began to research more about my hair and discovered the maximum hydration method. I urge all of you to check out the site if you haven’t. It provides more information on the method as it has changed my hair’s integrity so much. This process is intense which is why I have curtailed it to fit my schedule and own personal regimen because it is way too time consuming to follow to a tee.  My version: There are various ways to conduct a wash and go but this time I have opted to go for the freshly washed hair wash and go because it features more of m curls while my dry wash and go gives me more length and less definition. It depends on the look you are going for but seeing how I just finished watching Jada with her short hair, I was inspired to embrace the shrinkage in this wash and go endeavor. 1.      The first step in my wet wash and go process is of course, washing your tresses. I choose to use Trader Joe’s tingle tea tree shampoo because my hair smells amazing afterwards and it leaves my hair tingly clean (corny I know). 2.      After I wash my hair I follow up with a simple deep condition. For this I use Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner, but I apply the conditioner as if I am shingling my hair making sure that each strand is coated with the product. In my opinion this step is crucial because you are adding the moisture back into your hair that the shampoo depleted in the cleansing process. After each stand is coated I place a shower cap on my head and sit under a dryer for 15-30minutes. I lost track of time this time, so unfortunately I am not sure how long I sat under exactly. 3.      The conditioning stage gives my hair great slip and restoration. In this third step I bust out my Bentonite Clay. I mix this clay with Jojoba oil, honey and water. I have tutorial on how I apply my clay. It’s an old video but my process is the same from then ‘til now (just different add-ons in the mix). It is the same shingling method that I used in the previous step with the conditioner. I have adopted this step from the Maximum Hydration Method as this step helps my hiding curls to be exposed and prepares it to hold a curl in one of the final stages. I leave the clay in for 30 minutes and then wash it out.     To reduce crunch on my hair strands I like to apply a light leave in conditioner that also adds additional moisture. I section my hair into four and then work with one section at a time. Each individual section I break into three or four parts. a.       I apply the conditioner to each part and then move onto step 5                                                               i.      You can choose to add a sealer or butter to help keep the moisture in. I usually have a shea butter mixture however I ran out and the regular shea butter was leaving a residue on my hair and I discontinued use after a few trials on sections. 5.      Apply your gel to each individual section in the praying hands motion. If you are using the motion correctly you will notice that your hair will naturally clump into its own portions. 6.      After gel application I twist my roots and pin them down to my scalp, then move on to the next section 7.      By this point your entire head should be gelled and pinned which expedites the drying process. I use a diffuser to start drying the defined ends of my hair until they are 70% dry. I start with high heat for 5 minutes and then decrease to cool air after 10 minutes. I never want to add too much unwanted heat. While I could leave my air to air
